Callistemon

Bonsai Callistemon, also known as ‘bottlebrush’ because of its brush-like flowers, is an evergreen shrub native to Australia. Appreciated for its spectacular flowering and aromatic foliage, it adds an exotic touch to any bonsai collection.

Place Callistemon in full sun, as it prefers a bright spot. Keep the substrate moist but well drained, increasing watering during warm periods and reducing it in winter, while preventing the soil from drying out completely. Callistemon is sensitive to frost in cold climates, so it is advisable to place it in a bright, sheltered spot over winter.

Pruning should be carried out after flowering to maintain the desired shape and stimulate branching. It is advisable to cut back the branches below the wilted inflorescences to encourage new growth.
