Japanese White Pine
Pentaphylla pine, an emblematic variety of bonsai conifer, is particularly prized at prestigious Japanese national exhibitions. Although less vigorous than black pine, it is distinguished by its smaller, more elegant needles. Once forbidden for import, we have opted for local production in our nursery. Some of our specimens benefit from over 20 years of cultivation to develop imposing, well-formed trunks.
This conifer takes its name from its needles, which are grouped in bundles of 5, unlike most pines, which have only 2. This unique characteristic favors rapid densification with fewer buds, a valuable advantage for bonsai enthusiasts and experts alike. What's more, the natural suppleness of its wood makes it easy to shape trays using the ligature technique.
