Buddha Pine
The Podocarpus is also called the Buddhist Pine. The appearance of its foliage is more reminiscent of deciduous trees, but it is indeed a conifer in bonsai. Native to Asia, it loves the sun and needs to be protected in winter. Often mistakenly considered as a supermarket bonsai, it is under-represented among enthusiasts even though it has a lot of qualities. Its growth is quite slow but it becomes denser by pinching the apical bud during the growth period.
