Thunbergii pine, also known as Japanese black pine, is a must-have in the world of bonsai. Present at all the major bonsai shows in Japan, this exceptional coniferous tree captivates us with its robustness, vigorous growth and magnificently cracked bark, which develops with age, adding a touch of natural elegance.
Faced with a ban on its importation and its increasing scarcity in Europe, we have decided to grow it in our nursery. We start by developing it in the field, to form a solid trunk and well-structured branches, before transferring it to pots to refine the branching. Thanks to this process, we can offer specimens of all sizes, suitable for all types of collection.
Thunbergii pine is also appreciated for the flexibility of its wood, which can be shaped in a wide variety of ways using binding. Its ability to grow back easily makes it easy to create dense, harmonious trays. Every bonsai enthusiast should have this tree in their collection.
